My FIL Threatened Me after I Caught Him with His Mistress in a Café, but Karma Stepped in at Just the Right Moment

I never expected to find myself at the center of a scandal, but there I was, standing in a café and staring at my father-in-law, Richard. He was kissing a woman who was definitely not my mother-in-law. My heart raced, and my cheeks burned with embarrassment.

To rewind a bit, I married Daniel a year ago. His family is wealthy and influential, and while they initially doubted me—a wedding gown designer—they eventually came around. Richard even helped me land a job with Charles, his friend.

One day, after a busy morning of errands, I walked into a café and saw Richard with Elizabeth, Charles’ wife. My heart sank. I tried to leave quietly, but Richard noticed me.

“What do you think you’re doing, Tessa?” he snapped, grabbing my arm painfully.

“Are you seriously threatening me, Richard?” I demanded.

He hissed, “If you tell anyone, I’ll ruin your life. Daniel’s business, your job, all of it.”

I pulled free. “You think you can bully me into silence?”

Richard’s face went pale as his phone rang. It was Charles. Richard’s face drained of color as he spoke, trying to cover up his tracks.

“What did you do, Tessa?” Richard demanded.

“I didn’t do anything. Sounds like karma is catching up to you,” I replied.

Charles had been trying to reach Elizabeth to discuss dinner plans. During our confrontation, he overheard everything and realized the affair. He ended the friendship with Richard and withdrew his investments, leading to Richard’s financial collapse.

Later, Charles called me, offering a promotion to lead designer. “You won’t have to rely on Richard’s money,” he said.

Now, I’m thriving in my new role, while Richard scrambles to salvage his reputation. And me? I’m just content knowing that karma stepped in at just the right moment.

How does that look?
